It is important to have your equipment checked by a qualified tester and in 2001 I attended College Menai in Bangor to gain a qualification in the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment to enable me to do this. At the end of this course in January 2002 I was successful in gaining City and Guilds Certificates in the following: Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment based on the IEE Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Management of Electrical Equipment Maintenance based on the IEE Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment I use the latest computerised PAT testing equipment and are able to test all portable appliances in your company including - IT equipment, 415V, 110V, & 16A. Fire Safety Each year about 1000 accidents at work involving electric shock or burns are reported to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). Around 30 of these are fatal! Portable electrical appliances are a major cause of fires both in the home and at work. A sobering fact:- Over 2,500 people are killed or injured as a result of electrical fires every year!
